Lifestyle in the Goldfields

St Ives Gold Mine is located near Lake Lefroy in the prolific gold-producing Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia, around 80 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie and 630 kilometres east of Perth. Travel to and from St Ives site is undertaken via a coach service operating both morning and afternoon. Travel time is approximately one hour from Kalgoorlie and 20 minutes from Kambalda. Local Kambalda residents can also drive in and out independently.

Living in Kambalda

Kambalda is around 20 minutes drive from St Ives Gold Mine. With a resident population of about 3,500, it consists of two town centres, Kambalda East and Kambalda West. Both are well served with Banks and grocery retail outlets, as well as service stations and swimming pools. Local attractions include the Red Hill Lookout which has bird’s eye views of nearby Lake Lefroy as well as a bushwalking trail, and Lake Lefroy itself which provides plenty of opportunities for land sailing.

Living in Kalgoorlie-Boulder

With a population of over 30,000 people, Kalgoorlie-Boulder is Australia’s largest outback city. The weather in Kalgoorlie is pleasant with average temperatures reaching 33° in summer and 18° in winter, allowing for a very active outdoor lifestyle. The heart of the city’s social scene is Hannan Street and Burt Street, which come alive after dark with a variety of hotels and restaurants offering outstanding food, beverages and services.
